Data Deletion for Connected Social Accounts
Last updated: October 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of the data capty has received from a connected social media platform — such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok. It is addressed both to people using capty and to the platforms themselves.
1. What data this covers
When you connect a social media account to capty, we process only what publishing and reporting require:
- access tokens (OAuth access token and, where applicable, refresh token)
- the identifier and basic profile data of the connected account or page (page ID, display name, avatar URL, role information)
- metadata about posts scheduled and published through capty (publication time, post ID, status, error messages)
- analytics values retrieved for those posts
We do not retrieve friend or contact lists, messages, or the profile data of third parties.
2. Deleting it yourself
You can trigger deletion yourself at any time. Both routes lead to the same result:
- In capty: open the connected channels settings and disconnect the account. Disconnecting deletes the data listed above immediately. No copy remains in the application.
- At the platform: you can also revoke access directly with the provider — for Facebook and Instagram under Settings → Apps and Websites. Revoking ends any further access. To have the data already stored with us removed as well, disconnect the account in capty too, or write to us (section 3).
3. Requesting deletion by email
You can reach us at hello@capty.ai. Please include the following so we can identify the right record:
- the email address of your capty account
- the platform and, if known, the name of the connected account or page
We confirm receipt and carry out the deletion. Under Art. 12(3) GDPR we respond within one month at the latest; in practice, requests about connected accounts are handled considerably faster.
4. What remains after deletion — and what does not
We do not keep the platform data described in section 1 after deletion. There is no shadow copy, no archive and no secondary use.
For completeness, two limits apply that affect any service, one technical and one statutory:
- Backups: for account, post and text data, our hosting provider creates daily backups. Until a backup is overwritten on its normal cycle, it may still contain deleted data. These backups are encrypted, are not analysed in day-to-day operation, and are used only for recovery. Deleting an individual record inside an existing backup is not technically possible.
- Earlier versions of uploaded media: to protect against accidental deletion or overwriting, earlier versions of your images and video may be retained in our Hetzner Object Storage in Germany (region NBG1) for up to 30 days for technical recovery purposes. They are not used in normal platform operation and are deleted automatically once that period expires. If a version is restored, we re-apply any deletion requests that still apply. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.
- Statutory retention: invoices and payment records must be retained for ten years under § 147 AO and § 257 HGB (German tax and commercial law). Those records contain no platform data within the meaning of section 1.
5. Deleting your whole account
If you delete your capty account in the account settings, the account and all content stored in it is deleted immediately from our active systems — uploaded images and videos, generated copy, post data, and the connections to your social accounts. None of it is held back for any further use: the content is neither analysed nor used for any other purpose, and it is no longer available to you either. For technical recovery, earlier versions of uploaded media may still be held in separate storage for up to 30 days; the next section has the detail.
Export first: the 30-day export window that applies after a plain cancellation does not apply to an active account deletion. Deleting waives it deliberately. Clause 7.6 of our Terms of Service sets this out.
The limits described in section 4 — backups until they are overwritten, statutory retention of invoices — apply here too. A full overview of retention periods is in section 17 of our Privacy Policy.
